Skye's new Stocking

Johnson family friend, Gail Larson, knit Skye the most AMAZING stocking for his first Christmas. Thanks so much Gail!!!

Early December Weekend in Seattle

We had a great time visiting family and friends in Seattle over the first weekend of December. It was quite cold, but Skye warmed up the room where ever we went. Here are a few photos from our stay.

New Hampsha Novembah

We've had a couple of beautiful late Fall weekends which we've taken advantage of exploring the Granite State. First, we took a nice hike with our good friends Dave and Rachel, then it was off to cut Skye's first Christmas tree at a nice little tree farm. Also included are a few pics of Skye's new dedicated play zone!

Fall Weekend in San Francisco

Last weekend we flew out to San Francisco. It was a whirlwind trip of just three days, but we had a great time. The main reason for our visit was Jenny and John's amazing Practice Thanksgiving dinner party. John went all out this year cooking a huge roast pork leg, 4 speckled geese and one deep-fried turkey. 36 folks showed up all with side dishes. Good food and great friends.

The rest of our trip was spent visiting friends and family. Had a blast meeting Thanya and Dylan's new little boy Calvin, more fun with Jenny, John, Cole and Noah, a great dinner with Bev, a visit with Ben, Barbie, Haley and Carter, a picnic in Dolores Park with Isaac and Patsy, and a final send-off with Lara, Kalen, 13 month-old Audrey, Carey and Barb. Skye sends kisses and hugs to all of you!

Halloween Brooklyn Style

We spent a wonderful Halloween weekend in Park Slope Brooklyn with our friends Will and Martha and their super fun little boys Jasper and Bern. Skye had a ball trick o treating with the big boys. The next morning we walked a few blocks down to view the first pack of runners leading the New York Marathon. Good times!

How ya like these Apples?

This weekend we took a trip out to the Frog Pond Farm and Orchard to pick apples and rasberries. It was a beautiful early fall day. Skye absolutely loved it, grabbing leaves and pushing through bunches of apples. Here are some pics from our day along with a few images of Skye's lunch break of pears and plums.

New Home Movies

Dorky Dad has been filming lil' man Skye again. Here are some highlights:

Full on crawling now. No stopping this little bear cub. He can cover serious ground.

In addition to crawling, Skye is eating like a champ. His first two teeth have popped through as well. Here he is after summer hamming it up a bit.

So we're always joking that Skye's got Obama ears. Well here he is getting in touch with his inner Barry O.

Skye's First Camp Out

Over Labor Day weekend, we packed up the car and drove North to the White Mountains National Forest in New Hampshire for Skye's first night of camping. The lil' dude loved the woods, the camp fire, the river, etc. Only thing he didn't like we the whole sleeping in a tent thing. Nevertheless we had a great time. The next day we took our first extended hike with Skye strapped on momma's back. Great couple of days. Take a look...

Recent Skye Pics

Here's a slide show featuring photos from the last few weeks. Highlights include Skye's first real food, a visit from tío Isaac, parties, and hikes in the woods. Skye starts day care on Monday so I'm sure we'll have more fun photos to share soon!

Peach pickin' in Peabody

Had a nice sunny Friday on the North Shore. First we went on a hike at Appleton Farms, then we picked peaches and green beans at a farm in Peabody. All just before a nasty storm moved in for the weekend.

A Few New Movies of the 5 Month Old

So little man Skye is a 5 months old now and going strong. Quite a few big changes. He's eating real food, jumping like a mad man, and starting to figure out crawling. It's a real pleasure to watch him become a curious, active little person. Here's a few recent videos. I'll post some photos this week as well.

Carrots, Corn, Cucumbers and Skye

Skye and Dad headed off to pick up our weekly farm share of veggies. Only problem was that Dad had forgotten that in addition to our weekly box, we had also ordered 4 dozen ears of corn, 5 lbs of beets, and 5 lbs of cucumbers for pickling. Let's just say Skye's stroller was riding lower than a Cadillac in East L.A.

Best buds

Utah, Seattle, Montana Oh My!

July was a very busy month little man Skye. First he and Mom tagged along on Dad's trip to Boulder, Utah. Then he flew back out West for a visit in Seattle. After this was a long drive out to Montana for five days of fun and fishing. Finally another stop in Seattle before heading back to Boston. Little dude would be earning those frequent flier miles (if he wasn't sitting on his parents' laps)!

Skye Celebrates 4 Months!

This past Monday, Skye celebrated his 4 month birthday. A lot sure has changed since March 6, 2009! Heidi and I are amazed every day with how Skye has grown. He's becoming a curious active little guy indeed. At his 4 month doctor's check-up, he weighed in at 14.1 lbs and 25 inches. Here's a slide show and a couple videos from the last week.

Daddy time with Skye

After 3 1/2 weeks away from Heidi and Skye, I finally returned a week ago. It's been Mr Mom ever since and I've been enjoying every minute of it...well, almost every minute. Skye and I have been out and about hiking, cooking (gravlax!), reading books, finding big snakes! It's been fun spending some father and little son time.

Fun with Grandma

Skye and I stayed in Boston while Eirik headed to Peru for work for the month of June. After ten days on our own we were VERY happy to pick up Grandma Bev from the airport! She was here for two weeks to pinch-nanny while Heidi was at work. Skye had a blast with his grandma - taking walks in the neighborhood, riding the train, eating dim sum.

Skye Left His Heart in San Francisco

The whole family headed West to San Francisco for a visit with friends and family and the opening of Eirik's show. From our flight on Virgin America airlines to a lazy afternoon at Dolores Park, Skye was in good form. Here are just a few pics from Skye's time on the Left Coast.

10 Weeks of Skye Time!

Skye just reached the 10 week mark and he really is changing before our eyes. Just within the last week or two, he has begun to show his goofy little personality smiling and giggling all the time. He's also found his hands which he is starting to use to grab things. The motor skills are happening. The little dude is growing fast!

Here are some photos from the last week. Beginning with celebrating Heidi's first Mothers' Day with a walk at Deer Island. Also some photos and a little video of Skye's new favorite nightly ritual, his bath!

Class Act

Over last five weeks Heidi and Skye have been attending a Great Beginnings class for new moms and babies. The weekly get together has been a great way to get to know other new moms and bounce questions off on another. Songs are sung, little arms are stretched, butts are bounced, and lots of fun is had. Here's a few photos from this week's class.

Skye's first soccer game!

You knew it was gonna happen sooner or later. This past Saturday, we took the little dude over to Harvard's stadium to see a women's professional soccer match between the Boston Breakers and the LA Sol. It was a beautiful night and the crowd was pumped to see LA's star player Marta, the Brazilian sensation and best player in the world. Skye took in about 15 minutes of the first half before falling asleep for the rest of the match. Oh, Boston took the match 2 - nil. Sorry Marta.

Daily Exercises

So here's what our mornings are like right now. Skye, wakes up around 6 ish. He's usually wide awake and in a good mood so I get up and entertain the little dude for awhile. We bounce, we do a bit of tummy time. Then I strap him on my chest in the moby wrap (basically 16 feet of fabric) and take him and Coya (our dog) on a walk in the woods. He loves the birds and wind through the leaves and by the time we're home he's ready for a bottle and then a nap. Then I drink 6 cups of coffee and start my day...

Photo Booth Family

Six Weeks of Skye!

Well, Skye just celebrated six weeks with us. It's been an eventful time with many visitors. First, there was grandma Beth who came out shortly after Skye's birth to spend a week with us. She passed the baton quite literally to Grandpa Dan who arrived from Seattle on the same flight that Beth flew back on. Grandpa Dan was amazing, changing diapers, bouncing on the ball, making dinner and filling up our freezer with meatloaves and texas taters.

After a week with us, Dan called in reinforcements from Seattle. Michelle, Zoë, and Dana arrived and they along with Dan spent their Spring Break walking the Freedom Trail and hanging with Skye. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing all of them.

Along the way, Uncle Per and Aunt Paula stopped off in Boston for a visit before heading to Europe for 5 weeks. It was fun to see them and we really appreciated them making the stop. Plus it gave us a chance to congratulate Paula on getting into her residency at Children's Hospital in Seattle. Way to go!

The family train continued when Grandma Bev came out from the Bay Area for a wonderful week-long visit with her newest grandson. Bev was a dream, helping out with Skye til the wee hours of the night and cooking more tasty dinners. Skye definitely enjoyed their time together. We capped it all off with an amazing Easter dinner before Grandma Bev boarded the plane back to the West Coast.

Now, we're sharing a little quiet time just three of us plus Coya, who I must say was sad to see all the visitors go. She loved the attention! Skye is now over 10 1/2 pounds and developing quite a little personality. He's smiling all the time and starting to talk (a strange foreign language I've never heard before). He's a keeper and we're so happy he chose to stay with us!

Here are some photos of the last few weeks with all our visitors:

We've got VIDEO!

We just celebrated Skye's two week birthday this past Friday with Grandma Beth. We were so happy she could come out and share in the moment of Skye's arrival. We even made it up to Crane Beach on the North Shore of Massachusetts for a walk on the beach and lobster. It was a wonderful visit but on Sunday, Grandma headed back to Seattle.

Not to be outdone, Grandpa Dan Hall arrived on Sunday from Seattle to begin his tour of duty with the new parents. He's been great, cooking up a storm and helping out with whatever needs an extra set of hands.

Thanks to my brother Per and sis-n-law Paula, we are now able to film our little Skye guy on a camcorder. So without further ado, I give you "Skye Bouncing" and the sequel "Skye Tummy Time". More to follow so keep watching!

Week 1 for Skye

Well after 4 days of livin' the good life holed up in the hospital, on Tuesday March 10 Heidi, Skye and I left for home. It was a day of firsts, dressing in pants and shirts, getting into the car seat, driving newborn child home. It was also the first day that Skye met our loyal dog Coya. Took a few sniffs, but within the afternoon Coya and Skye were new buds. Very happy about that!

My mom, Beth flew in from Seattle on Friday and will be staying with us through next weekend. She's already been a great big help and support and we're super happy she's here. It's her first grandchild and by all accounts she's a total natural. Spring seems to have finally come to New England and we have been getting out with the whole crew for some nice walks round the neighborhood. Here are some pics

Heeeeeeere's Skye!

We'd like to wish a very warm welcome to Skye Roger Johnson, born March 6, 2009 at 4:20 pm. He weighed in at 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long, not too big, not too small, just right! We've been relaxing at Chez Brigham and Women's Hospital for the last few days, but will head home tomorrow to introduce the lil' bugger to his new digs and dog! Til then, here are some photos of the first few days of Skye's life in the world (double click on the slide shows to view larger). Welcome home little man!
